kill several flies that pop up like daisies in the summer.
1. Smack with empty 20 oz. coke bottle and swear profusely as it falls onto the bed.
2. Punch with hand and scoop up with tissue. Bruce Lee you are.
3. Hit with empty orange juice carton into sink and then trap underneath unwashed dishes. After this turn on scalding hot water and wash it down the drain.
4. Smother with laundry. Dirty laundry means they'll suffer.
5. Hit with a tennis racket. The ping means you are 15-love.
6. Stun by hitting it with your hand and while its on the floor roll over it with your chair.
7. Hit the fly into the toilet. Pee. Flush. Finished.
More to come.
Also, work is interesting. Almost fun, almost disappointing. I'll write a post on the weekend.

Game Review: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
This is more for Kimmy than me, and I have yet to finish the game. Please bear with me.
So I finally picked up this game today and was immediately surprised by the graphics. For a Wii game this is not only great animation but great graphics in general. Think a combination of Resident Evil 4 and 5 + Umbrella Chronicles and you have even more in depth animation that does pays very close attention to the details in every part of the game. I've only finished the first chapter but damned did that take forever. All in all, the average length of a chapter is about 9 minutes and the status bars at the end of the chapter will show you how many kills, headshots, etc. are possible in each level.
The guns are about the same as before and the reload times differ making it hard to switch from gun to gun. Upgrading guns takes money instead of stars which you can collect by shooting stuff in the environment. You can make around 3000~4000 G a level which is enough for the basic upgrade but not enough for the second level of upgrades (those cost about 5000 up to 8000). Reloading guns is done with the same mechanism as in the Umbrella Chronicles but is a bit more sensitive than before requiring only a small flick instead of the violent shake from the last game.
While the graphics are awesome, the enemies are sometimes hard to see in the murky water. This would almost add to the element of surprise except for the fact that the things in the water include frogs, fish, and only one weird monster that appears in the first level.
If possible, play with a friend. It makes it funny and interesting.
At the end of it all, the story line is interesting, the game play is pretty fun, and the graphics are great for a Wii game.

Essay Help?
anyone want to help me cut 499 characters out of the following essay?
In my freshman year, I had my first allergic reaction. While my initial reaction was not life threatening, my allergies soon escalated and before I realized it, I was in a hospital staring up at the ceiling. Diagnosed with exercise-induced anaphylaxsis, this prognosis struck me to the core, because as an athlete, I relied on gym visits not only to maintain my physical health but also to relieve stress.
Shocked with my own brush with death, my immediate response was to deny any sort of problem. However, each visit to the gym reminded me that I was being reckless with my life and my future. As a future medical professional, I knew that allergies were treatable but suffered mentally after being weakened by just one reaction. My anxiety initially caused me to avoid proper medical treatment, but after a few weeks, I realized that my allergies should not be a restriction but rather a reminder. My allergies became a reminder of what I was working towards, understanding and relieving the uncertainty of patients who lost faith in their physical health.
Thankfully, my allergies are now managed with medication and I, have since, restored my physical and mental health. As a student of medicine, I realize now that my anxiety should not rule my life but serve as a reminder of how illness disrupts a person's confidence in their health. In the future, I hope that my experience as a patient will help me help patients to restore the physical and mental stability that comes with physical health.

Hot Water Update!
Excitement, excitement! The hot water came back a week ago much to my surprise especially since there are three gaping holes in our wall where the gas pipes used to exist. Anywho, they left a note on our door yesterday but in their moment of greatness, it was all in Chinese. Ah Chinatown. You would think that they would realize this by now. The only floor that has people who can't speak Chinese is the second floor. Since leaving a note on our door on Tuesday for repairs on Wednesday, they have replace the pipes in our room and ran them outside the wall and around a few corners in our room down to the stove (so maybe the stove will work soon...) and then finished.
The fun thing is that they left a TON of debris all over the floor. Now they did try to sweep it up but its more like pushing dust from one side of the room to the other. So after two weeks and more than 20 hours of them wandering in and out of our apartment, we had hot water AND heat for some reason. I was happy for like... a day.
I woke up this morning and di the normal stuff, bathroom duties, eat breakfast and whatnots. Unfortunately after I did some work on my computer I went to go brush my teeth before leaving the apartment (working in starbucks is usually a large part of my day) and the water did not work. At all. No water whatsoever. Fun. The manager of the building told me that it would take 30 minutes before the water was back on, but knowing Chinatown 30 minutes means at least 2 hours and possibly the entire day. I should just give up and move somewhere else already. They are determined to drive me out!

More Chinatown Fun
So in the grand scale of fun Chinatown bullshit, I actually almost like Chinatown. Its full of yellow people who generally are rude and annoying, but will give you less looks than the tourists because you are... also of the same skin type. While I hated living here in the beginning (and still somewhat do) its gotten a bit better as I've met more people and have started to form friendships with people. I like most of the people we play soccer with, which works out well, and some of the folks who wander around the park (random drunk fat guy is not one of them).
Anywho, I went out today to get some fresh air and get out of this apartment (god knows what fumes I am inhaling by living here) and ended up reading my articles, coming back, and kicking the soccer ball around a bit regardless of the annoying cold I have right now. Afterwards I wandered back to my apartment to find a notice posted up on the lovely outer door from ConEdison that said "Gas has been shut off due to leaks". Now this does not make me the happiest camper in the world. ConEd's reputation is terrible about getting around to stuff which makes me think that this no gas, no hot water thing might last a LOOONNNNGGG time. So even though I was getting used to Chinatown and maybe actually enjoying my time doing my work and getting to play soccer every once and a while, now I can't actually take a shower after my relaxing bit of soccer. Boobears to that.
Sorry about the incohesiveness of this post. Fever makes me a bit weird, but willing to post apparently.

Job Search
Just an update on the job search for anyone who may or may not care (i hear whispers of my brother yelling "shut up" from the bathroom, jk). So far i've interviewed for six jobs. Two at Columbia medical center, two at the Aaron Diamonds Research Center, and two for MIT over the phone. I've already be rejected for one at Columbia, and told by the other five that they were interested in hiring me if I make a two year commitment. So two year commitment it is! For goodness sakes I do need a job and I would like it soon so I can write on my applications that I am actually doing something worthwhile in my spare time.
In any case, I've got and have been working (thinking about) my secondary essays and whatnots and will hopefully finish those soon. Oops, the housecat is here. Time to go. More updates later.

Happy
Korean Thanksgiving! Or Autumn festival whichever one you chose to follow. Go eat songpyeon and/or mooncakes and have a blast. Its and excuse to eat and do whatever you feel like.
Last night my brother and I made songpyeon actually. It was interesting because we've never made it without my mom before. In essence, I was extremely worried about messing everything up and/or the mung beans (yellow sweet beans) getting messed up as well. Because of this I wanted my brother to do the beans and I would work on the dough (I thought that maybe I knew how it felt better than my brother would). Anyways, my brother added sesame oil to the mung beans which made them more wet than needbe, however, everything ended up fine. The dough came together after it sat for a few minutes and the mung beans were quite tasty if I do say so myself. I'm listing the recipe below which I got from mangachi but added a few notes in case you wanted to try it yourself.
Ingredients:
Frozen Rice Flour
White Sugar
Dried Skinned Mung Beans (split ones are nice)
Salt
Water
1. Dump your dried mung beans into a bit of water to let them soak.
2. Set 2 cups of water to boil.
3. Sift the flour through a strainer or sifter to weed out some of the coarser grains.
4. Add 3 table spoons of the boiling water and a pinch of salt for every 1 cup of flour.
5. Knead the dough until it sticks together well and doesn't have too many cracks.
Note: If it keeps cracking and is hard to keep together in once piece after 15 minutes of kneading then add a half a tablespoon of water.
6. Cover the dough in saran wrap and turn your attention to the mung beans!
7. Drain the water from the soaked mung beans and add the equivalent amount of water (1/4 cup of mung beans = 1/4 cup of water) to the pot.
8. Set the mung beans to simmer, but remember to stir often.
Note: The beans might look a little dry but that's fine. Just leave it and keep stirring.
9. Allow the pot to simmer for 25 - 30 minutes before removing from heat, crushing the beans with the back of a spoon, and adding the equivalent amount of white sugar.
10. After the filling is mixed, start making songpyeon!
Note: If the dough is STILL to dry or breaks apart really easily when you try to knead it again add another 1/2 tablespoon of water and knead that in.
11. Take a ping pong amount of dough and work it gently with your hands. It's usually a little cracked, but if you have inconsistencies in the dough at this point then you will have more trouble when you steam it.
12. Make a small indent with your thumb in the middle of the ping pong ball and keep depressing the spot until you have a small cup.
13. Fill the cup with filling (but not too much) and seal the top by pressing the two edges together.
Note: Seal this properly otherwise all the filling will fall out while steaming.
14. Set water to boil in a large pot with your steamer over it.
15. Wet a cheeseclothe or paper towel or new, clean rag and put it at the bottom of the steamer rack (not in the water, in the thing with holes!)
16. Stick your songpyeon in here for 25 - 30 minutes to steam.
17. Rinse the finished sonpyeon quickly in cold water with a little bit of sesame oil dripped in and then enjoy!

Give Me A
job already!
Sorry for the long wait between updates, I've been pouring my efforts into finding me a job/purpose of life in New York and applying to medical school. If you've got a cousin thrice-removed who is a Principial Investigator, help me out here and send him an email. I will even give you my resume and cover letter.
On a less depressing note, the weather is finally getting colder. To my dismay, I gave all my warmer clothes to my dad a few weeks ago so I went shopping for a new sweater to go underneath my happy green jacket (my polo jacket). Also, no shoes. Gave those to my daddio too. So I'm stuck wearing chucks and high heels and running shoes. Oh well. Drop me a line if you want to catch a meal, I'm bored here.

Chinatown kinda sucks.
and by kinda i mean really. Its very gracious of my brother to have let me stay in his apartment and not kick me out so far, but the family that lives upstairs drives me nuts. The little kid runs back and forth with such persistence that I think that they should medicate that kid heavily. On the other hand, the couple themselves + whoever else lives with them (I suspect their grandparents and whatnots) argue like the devil wants one of them and they can't decide who they will give up. That is also assuming that they would stick up for each other in such a case.
Anyhow, I did wonder how long it would take for the people who live together in such close quarters before they would argue.

Life in New York
So I've been here for about a week so far and life in New York has been interesting. Aside from the strange coordinating sleeping arrangements around my brother and Tiger's schedule, its been pretty quiet. The kids that live above my brother's apartment are ridiculously loud all the time and I wish that I could smack them, but I realize that this may be against the law. On a lighter note, Kimmy came to visit this past weekend and we had a blast wandering around, hanging out, and going to the US Open for Tennis. We ended up seeing the Roddick v. Isner match on the big screen outside the stadiums (we were waiting for the stadium to open up for the night sessions), the Safina v. Kvitova match and like 5 seconds or less of the Blake v. Roberto match. While I love tennis, live tennis is much MUCH better than on t.v.
Anywho, I tried doing laundry today and ended up going to a laundromat down the street from my brother's place in Chinatown. Its clean and there were a lot of little old ladies just wandering around doing laundry. I guess I can deal with that. The only problem is that laundry costs 2 dollars a load so you need at least 6 dollars in coins to complete every set. (2 washers and 1 dryer). Aside from that there are some old school arcade games that I thought I could resist, but ended up falling prey to so I dropped a couple more dollars whilst doing laundry. Silly me. No income means that I should be saving my moolah.

Philadelphia Review: Activities
The food in Philadelphia is quite good for the price, but how about the activities? As any of you know (assuming my friends and some of my sorority sisters are reading my blog) I love sports and in general being athletic. Its kind of my thing. It came as no surprise when I got to Philadelphia that I sought out almost any and every area for sports. Soccer, Tennis, Running, indoor, and outdoor sports are my thing but surprisingly Philadelphia responded quite well. Though my comparison mostly comes from New York (as another big city with lots of activities), There are only some negative similarities.
Running - City running is always tricky business. Stop lights, pedestrians, traffic all hinder the normal scheme of city running especially when you are trying to run a good distance. Philadelphia is about the same as any large city with one exception. There are two nice long stretches where you may run for miles without stopping. Those areas are right on the water from near the Delaware river and along the Schuykill river. I would recommend the east side of the Schuykill river as it has an actual path and is relatively uninterrupted by traffic. The Delaware river path, however, is right next to a major road and thus often noisy and dirty.
Tennis - Tennis was a bit tricky at first but soon became and easy occurrence. Because you need a court to play, its a bit awkward positioning courts in the city, but there are enough in Philadelphia to satisfy any avid tennis player. There are six courts at UPenn (32nd and Walnut), two at Drexel (Arch and 34th), two at Seger Park (10th and Lombard), two at Fairmount Park (23rd and Walnut), ten at JFK Park (All the way south on Broad st.), and two up near the Queen Lane medical campus. For a city as small (or as large) as Philadelphia, this is enough courts for people who play during the weekdays but not quite enough for the people playing during the weekends. Expect lines of one hour or more on the weekends. Come early, play early, and limit your court time to one hour out of courtesy. If you need any tennis equipment, head over to 12th and Sansom for friendly service at "Everyone's Racquet"
Soccer - Disappointingly, Philadelphia has a lot of small sized parks. These parks are definitely not large enough to play soccer, and I can safely say that there is no good location to play soccer inside the city. The closest area with a field is up off of the R3 an hour and fifteen minutes of out of Philadelphia. Another grass field is located near Pat's and Gino's Cheesesteak places (the two most famous ones) but its usually full with local soccer leagues that range from 80 - 120 per season. aka much to much money for the casual player and/or the starving graduate student.
Indoor sports - To my surprise, the indoor sports have a good following in Philly. The dodgeball league is fun and usually a good way to hang out, while the fencing clubs (just one in the area) are well rounded and pretty nice. If you have a hankering for trying a martial art, either do it through the school or hit up center city aikido between 7th and 8th on Market street. Its cheap and the folks are rather nice.
General Outdoor Sports - Outdoor sports are things I would consider like playing football, tossing around a baseball or frisbee, kayaking and the like. Unfortunately, Philadelphia lacks the space for most of this stuff and the space they do have is littered with broken glass and in general the filthiest of filthy areas. Drexel has a nice outdoor turf field and a little stretch of grass for some beach volleyball, but it is often occupied by campus events and students that may or may not welcome you. Give it a try though, this area is better than most. Another area for some of the more relaxed activities is the open field on UPenn's campus at Walnut between 33rd and 32nd. They have a random open field which has a plethora of sunbather's but looks like the perfect area to strap on some boots and kick a ball around. I would still recommend Drexel because the area is restricted (thus clean), but you also need a card to get in.
That's it for the review on sports! Hope it was interesting enough. I'll get back to writing personal entries soon. I just want to finish writing this stuff on Philadelphia before I forget completely. Have a good labor day weekend!

Philadelphia Review: Restaurants
I figure I should start with the food first as it will be either the first or last thing I forget. Of all the food I've had in various cities, I will admit to Philadelphia having very good eats. The flavors are perfect although sometimes salty and the locales are pretty chill as far as places to eat go. You don't get the usual staring of Chinatown, the rushing you out the door if you are a single diner, and the weird looks if you walk in like how I'm usually dressed (jeans and a t-shirt). The food ranges from really dirt cheap to really pricey, the pricey being excellent quality and taste, and the dirt cheap to only okay and manageable for the amount of money you pay. Its not too hard to eat healthy here and not too bad either. I'm listing the restaurants that I've tried below with price range from dirt cheap to expensive.
Any and every food cart - greasy as to be expected, but the people are nice and the ingredients (if you get a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion) are decently fresh. There are many carts that have designated spots so its not too hard to keep going to the same place over and over.
Wawa - for those of you who don't live on the east coast, wawa is a convenience store that also offers fresh sandwiches and side dishes for pretty cheap (soda, sandwich, and chips for $7). The service varies because it is a chain, but the sandwiches are decently consistent. In the summer they have the "hoagiefest" in which they have certain sandwiches for 2.99. Its pretty sweet and pretty cheap.
Subway, Quiznos, Au Bon Pain, Jimmy Johns - The usual suspects of fast food chains that are slightly healthier than BK and Mickey D's. I will admit to eating a lot of this stuff, but I will also say that the quality here is much worse than in Michigan with the exception of Jimmy Johns. Subway is pretty much the same, meaning its still kinda weird, but quiznos was much much worse. AuBon Pain was also pretty bad and filled with extra preservatives that made my stomach grumble in pain. (read: much different than the ones in Boston which may or may not be fresh when you wander by to get a sandwich.)
Slightly More Upscale - These places are a bit more expensive ranging at 10 - 15 per meal, but the price and locations are usually well worth it. Some notables include Pizzacato (4th and Market in Olde Town), Jones (Chestnut and 8th), Miga (16th and Sansom), Vietnam Restaurant (12th and Vine), and El Fuego (7th and Chestnut). Good food, good price, and decent locale if you want to sit and eat by yourself. (Bring a newspaper or something to read though. People watching gets old when the crazies actually stare straight back at you.)
Very Pricey - These places would include Table 31, Morimoto, Fogo de Chao, Chima, and Continental. The food is AMAZING and quite tasty. Fogo and Chima are both Argentinian steakhouses with all you can eat limit of their salad bar and their cuts of meat. Give it a try, it's quite good. Table 31 and Continental are both nice trendy sit-down places where the music could use some turning down, but the overall ambiance is pretty chill. Morimoto was definitely the most expensive, but good food for the price. Sushi is only sushi when you've had it at Morimoto. (yum.)
All in all I was surprised by the quality of the food and not so much by the genre's available. The home of the hoagie is always a good choice but I do enjoy more variety in food. The service is also pretty consistent so what are you waiting for? Go eat!
Any and every food cart - greasy as to be expected, but the people are nice and the ingredients (if you get a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion) are decently fresh. There are many carts that have designated spots so its not too hard to keep going to the same place over and over.

A few things...
1. Food poisoning makes you skinny. Mad skinny. Especially if it lasts more than two days.
2. I hate food poisoning.
3. Poor fridge. I am throwing everything out.
4. Moving is more annoying with furniture.
5. My parents have a master plan for me and I have no clue what it is.
up next? A complete review of Philadelphia. In several parts. (maybe by area? maybe by scenes? (like available produce, farmers markets, people, different areas, fun places, not so fun places, smells, and good places to kick back and relax.)) I think I'd do the food one first anyhow.

blah
I should really stop playing around on the internet and do what I'm supposed to do, take practice sections until my eyes bleed and my pencil lead coats my hands in an effort to solve all the problems in the physics world on scratch paper.
Despite my knowledge that I should and need to bring up my mcat score by two points, I continually dick around by playing facebook games and reading news articles. The articles might help my ability to score better on the verbal section, but the games definitely don't help ^ ^;;
We'll see how it all goes down. I still have until Wednesday night/Thursday morning to practice and get all the information in my head organized... we shall seeeeeee... in the meantime? not cooking at all. just buying food and eating it. it's a terrible waste of money. but whatever. I figure if I try to cook something at this point I'll probably burn it in my distraction.

Public Transportation
Dear People Who Ride Public Transport with me,
I apologize for taking up my own personal space and the space next to me (usually occupied by my backpack or bag or tennis rackets or groceries). I realize that I am being obnoxious and that I am a rather small person so that almost anyone can fit next to me comfortably on any form of transportation. Due to some unfortunate experiences where people two or three times my width have chosen to occupy the seat next to me (regardless of anything I put there) I dislike sitting next to ANYONE during travel. I know it looks funny, I know its rude. Bear with me or lose some weight. Big boned is fine, you can sit next to me all you want, but if you are sitting next to me because you can justify taking up more than your space because I am petite, I will hurt you while you are in your diabetic (type two of course) coma drooling on my hair.
To the normal sized people I apologize for my rude-ness and would like to point out to you that you would think the exact same thing if you choose to sit next to me. If you ask me to move my bag, I will. I thoroughly enjoy sitting next to people who do not take up more space than they need. If the bus is packed, please do try to sit next to me instead of letting a very hefty person take your place. I will offer my multigrain cherios (for long trips) and try to be as polite as possible if you do.
All that being said, I am going to sleep. Bus rides make me tired.

Aikido
For those who I've talked with on the phone in the last few weeks, you'd know that I was debating getting a few free aikido lessons a couple blocks away from my apartment. I'll have to post again about the final verdict on such things, but the first day was fun and interesting. It conflicted with the footwork for taekwondo and with the footwork for karate, but was similar to the footwork for fencing in that most people are right handed and I am left (our front feet are always supposed to be on the same side apparently.) But I learned a few things with footwork and learned a few throws. Hopefully tonight's thing will be better in that first off, there's weapons practice. Secondly, there's another sensei that will be teaching tonight. Lastly, I will have bought an actual uniform and not be using something that smells like a bum on a hot summer's day.
We'll see. One thing I can mention though, is that my hamstrings and butt are more sore than I expected. I guess the having a good arch in your back for good posture thing doesn't really work out too well in aikido.
In other news, countdown to mcats is 24 days. I'm reviewing physics now and setting myself up to take a practice test tomorrow and/or several practice sections of physics and random verbal sections (never really have problems with biology for some reason). Wish me luck!

Missed Calls?
Apparently I've been answering my phone late at night and not knowing it. (aka I talked to my brother last night at 2:45 AM and didn't remember a thing) Heh, so we'll just pretend that I secretly hate missing calls and will always pick up no matter when you call. Whether or not I'll remember that you called and/or the topic of conversation is a different matter entirely. But I wonder, how many times have I done such a thing? Anyone got a story for me that I don't remember? Leave a comment :)

July 4th Weekend
This weekend is one of those weekends that I wish I could spend with people I miss, hanging out, kicking back, enjoying fireworks and maybe grilling up a few burgers and hot dogs at a park. It makes me violently aware of the fact that I am sitting in my apartment with just my books and some food waiting for something interesting to happen. I was thrilled earlier when I rediscovered torrenting but the amusement of it wore off quickly when I realized I was still going to have dinner by myself tomorrow. I toyed with the thought of taking myself out for dinner, but I thought it would be too depressing.
As a side note, Tiger is hanging out with his parents who decided that they wanted to visit (which is a good thing) while my brother is busy working his ass off. Meanwhile, dad is at home with mom and sister so that leaves me all alone for this fourth of July. Too bad all my Philadelphia friends are at home. It makes me lonely. I even posted a thing to craigslist to find a tennis partner for this weekend. Joe's tennis shop is closed this weekend so I can't bother him to find me a tennis partner (joe is a 60 something year old man who keeps giving me tennis gear).
I was looking out my window at the skyline and I heard a ton of people just hanging out talking outside and enjoying the cool night air (its a really nice temperature right now (65-ish)). It makes me wish that I was somewhere with friends sitting on a patio and enjoying the conversation or just human company. I miss my college friends and college in general. Though I could go up to New York to find people to hang out with, I should be studying like normal. Maybe I'll make my own little picnic tomorrow instead? One mcat book, a bag lunch, and a few bucks? We'll see. I'm still hoping someone will be available to play a quick, albeit, bad game of tennis with me.

Korean-American Women and Materialism
http://www.ichoson.com/20090525737/People/are-korean-american-women-narrow-minded-and-uncultured.html
Here's an interesting take on the average korean-american woman that I am inclined to agree with. While I have met several exceptions, we are notorious for having the reputation stated in the article. Thankfully I know only a few of those and tons more of the exceptions but visits to the homeland and reaching out to embrace Korean culture have swayed the resolve of the lesser maintenance KA girls, myself included.
I'll write a second post to this later, I'm going to set about reading this webpage...

Apartment Hunting
Strap on those boots and put your safari hat on! We're going apartment hunting! or rather, wandering through the city of new york, flabbergasted at sky high apartment prices for shit for bean rooms. Cleanliness is not their middle name and no, there are rarely good deals for this stuff. Alas, I am trying to live on the island of Manhattan relatively close (20 minutes by subway) to the Columbia med campus. If you haven't already gotten the memo and/or haven't talked to me in a couple months, I am going to Columbia's Nutrition masters program for a quick masters and reapplication to medical school. Hence the attempt at finding an apartment in New York.
I did look at a few 1br, studio places but found that they do not even fit my bed and desk comfortably (although i admit that my desk is quite large), for an astronomical price. We'll see how this all works out. My best option right now is to find someone to live with be it my brother or someone else and get a 2 br 1 ba apartment which is going for a decent rate at 113th and 7th. I saw the apartment yesterday and it was the last one I saw for the day. gorgeous in comparison to anything and everything else I saw yesterday. So yea, got roommate?

Found
Through Facebook. We solved the mystery of the wandering roommate. Apparently she was just at a friend's wedding over in California. What I would do to be in California and not studying for my MCATs right now. oh what I would do...
In other news, my job ends on June 30th and afterwards I will be living um.... not large. More like eating TONS of pasta and drinking lots of water to stave off hunger pains. Or maybe just eating lots of frozen food. There's an idea. Better get some frozen peas and carrots soon too. I hear those are good for all the ... wait... they're only good for getting a beating. *shrugs* I suppose the MCATs beat me up enough for me to want peas and carrots. Oh standardized testing, how you abuse me.
Also, I'm moving to New York City in a few weeks and getting an apartment with my bro. Should I be worried? Maybe, but I don't mind right now. I am in for more bullying from ze brother (as in he'll fart in my face or in my room and run away laughing) but it should be better than now, wondering if my roommate will ever talk to me... like ever.
Alrighty, time to get back to stupid online coursework! Toodle-oo!

Headphones
While my roommate is still no-where to be found, she paid the rent for June so I'm going to keep assuming that she is alive somewhere and hopefully well. What she wants to do in her spare time is her own concern. Mine is just that I need someone to pay the other half of the rent.
Anywho, I lost the little earbud piece to my favorite sport headphones (the little white ones that I got at the old Hanover Camera and Audio shop way back when they were going out of business). This is the second time I've lost the earbuds and they cost about 7 to buy a set and replace them. This wouldn't be a problem, but like a fool, I left the corresponding piece at home in michigan the last time I replaced them. Now its between spending another 7 bucks for more ear bud replacements or just using my other headphones which are quite bulky. Mind you, these are the ones I use in the winter when my ears are really cold (I'm too lazy to buy earmuffs). Hmm... Or I could just suffer and use them whilst the weather climbs to uncomfortable heights and humidity.
When did music and headphones become so important to me? No clue, maybe around the time I started working out 5 times a week and I wanted a private sanctuary while walking. What odd-ness. I'm getting back on my work-out schedule so this is why I'm addressing this now, but geebus mcpheebus. Shit like that should be cheaper.
Anywho, back to studying. Life goes on. Talk to you later folks.

Milk Carton
For my roommate. No clue where she is. She mysteriously left yesterday morning and did not show up last night (well didn't come back would be more accurate) that I know of. Her coffee machine has also disappeared and there is little to no food on her side of the fridge. The pots, pans, and dishes are all still here (her contribution to the kitchen) so I am inclined to think that she's on vacation, but still no clue where she is. While we don't get along all that well, disappearing for no apparent reason is a bit weird. At least I tell her when I decide to take trips away... via post-it notes... ^ ^;;
yay dysfunctional roommates! I'm going to go run and get some food now. Staying in my apartment all day is annoying.

Anger
Recently, I've thought a lot about how much motivation I had in the past in comparison to post-undergraduate life. It didn't take long before I realized that the thing that fueled my high school academics was my anger. Anger towards the people I called friends, the people I played soccer with, teachers and authority figures at THS, my siblings, and my parents. It was less on my parents and siblings than anyone else, but I still had a lot of anger towards everyone.
The question is now how to regain my motivation and drive. I know its there and occassionally I find the will to try something entirely out of my reach, but it is hard to maintain without the force of nature known as my anger pushing me. Should I reestablish my anger in order to renew my motivation? Will that change me more than when I finally let it go? Who's kidding who? I'm still an angry s.o.b. sometimes but for the most part I've let up on my temper. Do I and should I be angry for the sake of my future? Or should I just keep my person as is?
Man I miss the days where I could run everyday without hassle. Sprained ankles suck.

Backpack
So after 10 or so long years of using the same backpack for school and for outings, my trusty old Eddy Bauer backpack is being laid to rest. In quite a disgusting manner, the bottom lining of my backpack had started to come off in my books and notebooks as black pieces of plastic which coated everything from my epi-pen to my neoprene laptop case. I actually started looking for a backpack a couple months ago, but didn't have a chance to buy it (and it wasn't on sale) until just this past weekend. Yay Memorial Day weekend Sale! I bought this backpack (http://www.citysports.com/citysports/product.asp?s_id=0&prod_name=The+North+Face+Hot+Shot+Special+Edition&pf_id=149066&dept_id=541&dl_id=88) and liked it a lot since I saw it way back when. Hopefully my choice was sound and this backpack also lasts me forever and ever. Well, considering I'm going to be a student for at least another year and many more years after that.
Anywho, the outside is a weird blend of white knit material and plastic/nylon to make it water proof. Despite this I'm sure it'll get dirty quickly and I'll find some way to break it in a few years, but my old and faithful backpack is, in reality, dying and must be laid to rest peacefully. Violently laying a backpack to rest might make me lose stuff. Like my wallet. ^ ^;;
So what do you think? Good choice? Bad Choice?
I'll post on my trip to Dartmouth next week. I'm getting all my thoughts sorted and studying done first.

Silly Things
So my roommate loves basketball, but unfortunately the Pistons got knocked out of the running for the NBA finals early on. Right now, the Red Wings are duking it out with the Chicago Blackhawks for the conference finals. My roommate has control of the TV. I am thinking that I should go somewhere else to watch the game, but I also want some food without spending an arm and a leg. The choices are endless considering it is only 3:32 PM, but I really don't feel like dressing up considering how my weekend was fill with such things.
I'll figure something out, but it's just funny that if it were my team I'm sure I'd be watching basketball and she would be waiting to watch whatever team(s) she wanted to root for during the "finals" nights.

Asian Mafia
I really miss the days when I would cry out for help and the asian mafia would descend on me like angels from heaven to help me with such foreign concepts as "make-up" and "formals." I thought I could avoid that kind of stuff in the real world as I'm working towards the field of medicine, but it seems to have caught up with me.
To sound extremely vain, I want to wear make-up to look my age. I just don't know how. Geebus mcpheebus. And yes, it has caught up with me. "Where?" you may ask? A wedding. A friend of mine, Meredith Wilson, is getting married on Saturday and I have no idea how to put eyeshadow, liner, and mascara on properly. Okay, that might be a lie. I know how to put all that stuff on without damaging my eyes or poking out anything that I might need for survival, but I would like to be able to do it WELL for such social functions like weddings, parties, dances, etc.
Man I really do miss the asian mafia right now and I feel like I took them for granted. I should have been a better friend and hung out with them more even if I did feel like I was turning into a brand whore. I mean, I'm friends with Monica and she's the brand whore. eh. okay. I'm just terrible at all things girly, but I'm comfortable. That's just who I am. asp;dofiawerkfdafda;flsda;woiekfa. I need to fix this make-up thing. I don't like being self-conscious about something like this... Will report tomorrow after I bother the Shiseido lady into helping me use make-up. After all I've already bought a shitload of stuff from her. (face wash and the like... i'm not an idiot.)

After all I've already bought a shitload of stuff from her. (face wash and the like... i'm not an idiot.)

Sandwiches
For some reason I am able to smell some delicious deli sandwiches from my desk with my windows open. This begs the question if I should make a sandwich myself or go out and buy one because I have quite a lot of work to do. They smell like the perfect combination of sweet meats, salty dressings, and bread. I guess I'm really really hungry. I'm just feeling too lazy after all the traveling I did to get my ass to school, return this book, get my shots, and study for mcats. *sigh*

Post-Finals
Like any good few days after finals, I got sick and stayed in bed all day yesterday. The by-product? Now I'm awake at a lovely 2:41 AM because I'm just not tired. Granted I was tired earlier, but I ignored that, invited people over for dinner and completely missed the point of being sick. (aka the stay away from people so you don't spread your germies) Oh well.
In other news, I'm a terrible roommate. I didn't ask when my roommate's finals were, just like she didn't ask when mine were and so I figured that when I was done with finals, she would be too. Now in our wonderful co-existence of passive aggressive-ness this would normally be okay. However, I invited people over for dinner and made lots of lovely noise to comfort myself in the solitude that I would achieve next week when everybody around here peaced the fuck out. *sigh* I was trying to be a good roommate, cleaning up, keeping quiet, not nagging, buying birthday and christmas gifts and whatnots, but you know, it only goes so far if its one sided. It's like writing a letter and shoving it in a bottle. The bottle might actually get to someone but more likely it's going to get picked up by some "save the earth" fanatics who will then proceed to track you down and canvass infront of your house for the next year.
My point? Being nice was useless, I'm sure she would have acted the same way anyhow. In addition, I miss my old roommates. They were fun/funny and I could convince them to do fun stuff with me. Alrighty, time to get back to reading bad manga in hopes that it will lull me to sleep. I'll post again soon. I optimistically aim for once a week. eh... maybe that'll work.

First Post
It's the sacred first post. Will I make an impression? Should I tremble at my keyboard while writing this entry? The answer is probably not to both of those questions.
Welcome to the new blog, I'm switching over from Xanga so I'll post a link, phone my "5", and make some sort of declaration on facebook. I am just that modern. No, I won't twitter. Sorry, I'll pass on being connected ALL THE TIME. I like to have me time, whether it is just reading a book or shooting people on my Wii. Yes, both are healthy habits.
Anywho, I have to study for my last final and register for a summer class. More details on that later. But welcome to One Geebus a Day. You know it's my favorite catch phrase for exasperation. I'm sure you love it too.
Geebus to finals.
